QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINE

These guidelines are written as an overview list to help determine if a business is qualified to advertise on the Specific Information Sign Program.  To qualify, a business must be in operation or have broken ground with a scheduled opening date for a new facility.  It must also comply with laws concerning the provisions of public accommodations without regard to race, religion, color, age, sex or national origin, and laws concerning the licensing and approval of service facilities.  To qualify, the business must be within the maximum distance of five (5) miles from the ramp terminus to the business entrance. Additional qualifications are listed below.

1.  Gas Services shall include:
 
  1. Vehicle services including, fuel, oil and water
  2. Restroom facilities and drinking water
  3. Continuous operation of at least 16 hours per day/7 days per week for freeway and expressway.
  4. Continuous operation of at least 12 hours per day/7 days per week for conventional highways
  5. Telephone
2.  Food Services shall include:
 
  1. Licensing or approval where required
  2. Minimum operation of 5 days a week, opening by 10:00 a.m. daily, until at least 7:00 p.m.
  3. Adequate seating (indoor seating for a minimum of 20 people)
  4. 50% of the gross receipts are meals, food, food products and beverage sales
  5. Telephone
3.  Lodging Services shall include:
 
  1. Licensing or approval where required
  2. Adequate sleeping accommodations
  3. Telephone
  4. Motels must have a minimum of 10 units; Bed & Breakfasts must have a minimum of 4-units.
  5. Can be operated seasonally, with the operating dates indicated on the logo panels. Rental charges remain in effect if the panels remain up.
4.  Camping Services shall include:
 
  1. Licensing or approval where required
  2. Adequate parking
  3. Modern sanitary facilities with drinking water
  4. Campgrounds must have a minimum of 10 sites
  5. Can be operated seasonally, with the operating dates indicated on the logo panels. Rental charges remain in effect if the panels remain up.
5.  Attractions Services shall include:
 
  1. Have licensing or approval where required
  2. Have the primary purpose of providing amusement, historical, cultural or leisure activities to the public
  3. Be of regional significance
  4. Provide adequate parking to accommodate normal traffic volumes for the facility.
  5. Have adequate supplemental signage under Trans 200.06(1)(f) to direct motorists to their location after exiting the highway.
